Violence and Health


Previously, we reviewed the scientific approach to injury and the types of injuries: unintentional and intentional.

Intentional injury to others or to oneself can also be referred to as violence.

Violence is a significant threat to the health of an individual and more broadly to populations.

Violence, similar to unintentional injury, should also be viewed from an injury prevention perspective, with careful attention to risk factors for committing violent acts and becoming victim to violence.
