Many societies are patriarchal in nature, and view women as being inferior to males in value. This may manifest in inferior health care and nutrition for female children, inferior educational and employment opportunities, and discrimination in the workplace by means of gender gap in wages. Some cultural practices (such as genital mutilation, arranged marriages, dowries) can cause also mental harm to women[9].
