There are differences in several serum markers for increased risk of CAD. Held[1] reports that women with angina had lower levels of fibrinolytic markers, lower white blood cell counts and higher levels of thrombotic factors and platelets. Overall, men were reported to have higher levels of inflammatory activity and a worse lipid profile. In contrast, women were found to have higher levels of thrombotic activity.
